Golf Ball

Players must use a golf ball from the USGA ‘List of Conforming Golf Balls’.

Course rules will be reviewed prior to tee-off.

We will be keeping score (and tracking the leaderboard LIVE) via the 18Birdies app.  You can download that app now.

Once you download the app and create your profile you will click “Play” on the bottom of the main page, then click the yellow “Tournament” tab and enter the four digit code provided to you at the start of the tournament in the “Join or Create Tournament” box. You can then enter the tournament pool for Saturday.

There is no cost for you to use the 18Birdies app.

The course has putters and balls but you are encouraged to bring your own.

Here are some rules in preparation for your upcoming event:

Rule 1. If your ball exits the playing surface it is considered out of bounds. You must return your ball to your previous spot and take a one shot penalty.

Example: If your “tee” shot goes out of bounds you must hit a second “tee” shot, lying 2, hitting 3.

ADA entrances/exits are not considered out of bounds. Players can place their ball where it exited the course, with no penalty.

*if your ball comes back to you and exits the tee-box (behind you) there is no penalty. Re-tee off, lying 1, hitting 2.

*water/sand and other hazards are also not considered out of bounds. These hazards carry a 1 stroke penalty and your ball should be set 6 inches from where it entered the hazard. In cases where the course allows it, you may play your ball from a hazard. Ex. Rock pits at Lilli Putt

Rule 2. Rules Regarding Relief:

Players may create relief from walls and obstacles with the following conditions. If conditions are not met or a player willfully ignores the below parameters regarding relief, a 2 stroke penalty will be assessed.

  • If a player is 6 inches or less from an obstacle or wall they may create relief.

  • Players may move their ball perpendicular or backwards from the hole. A player may move the ball closer to the hole if that is the only option that exists (ex. back wall).

  • Players are not allowed to create a direct path to the hole if one did not already exist.

*If a ball enters an obstacle but does not FULLY exit, the ball can either be ‘played as it lies’ or should be pulled back to the entry of the obstacle. The same 6 inches of relief from the entry applies.

Rule 3. Players will play the entire hole before the next person in their group hits their tee shot. This means there will never be another player's ball on the putting surface when you are playing.

Rule 4. If a tee shot comes backwards toward the putter and lands either in the tee box or outside the back of the hole, the player may re-tee and hit their second shot without penalty. If the ball comes to rest in front of the tee box the player must play it as it lies.

Rule 5. Players can not score anything higher than an 8 and are allowed to play out the entire hole, regardless of their current score.

Rule 6. Players are not penalized for accidently moving their ball while the ball is in play. The player should simply return the ball to where it was, previous to it being moved. Situations where this rule would come into effect include:

  • hitting your ball with a practice swing

  • moving your ball while trying to mark it

  • dropping a club on your ball

  • kicking your ball

  • bumping your ball with your putter in addressing it

In the event your ball is accidently moved, please make sure the players in your group are aware that you are bringing it back to it’s original position.

Rule 7. The use of playing aids (ex. aiming devices or levels) are not allowed.

Rule 8. Albeit rare, situations may exist where a ball is still on the green playing surface, but is completely unplayable. Hole 10 at Moose Mountain is one hole where this possibility exists (Event 52 is the first situation where this type of rule was enforced). In this situation, the ball will be treated as it is in a water hazard. A one stroke penalty will be assessed and the player can move the ball six inches nearest to the point of entry.

Note that this exception only exists because the ball is rested on a green playing surface. Had it been on any other non-playing surface, it would simply be out of bounds.

Rule 9 (Rogue Eagle Rule). Albeit rare, situations may exists where your ball is being held up (on a hill) by a foreign object (in this case, a leaf). The player may remove the foreign object that is holding up their ball and the ball can continue on it’s path down the hill. No penalty will be assessed. Players are encouraged to clean the playing surface before hitting their tee shot.

Rule 10 (Extra Holes). When a tie exists at the end of 36 holes, additional holes will be needed to break the tie.

In a two person tie, a coin flip (or equivalent) will be used to determine who gets their first choice of who goes first and second. The players will flip each hole moving forward as necessary.

In a three or more person tie we will determine order by first looking at honors. If one (and only one) player has honors, they will make their choice of where to putt. If two players remind a coin flip (or equivalent) will be used to determine next choice. If three or more players remain, # of aces in that particular event will determine order choice. More aces = earlier choice. In a three or more person tie where no player has honors, # of aces in that particular event will be used to determine the order. More aces = earlier choice. The players will flip each hole moving forward as necessary (1,2,3 to 3,2,1). If player 2 is eliminated after the first round the order would flip from 1,2,3 to 3,1.

*Note in the event two players have equal number of aces, those ties (within the tiebreaker) will be broken by a coin-flip (or equivalent).

If all of the above does not determine an order for a three or more person tie we will go in order by first letter of player last name.

Playoff Holes are hole 18 except in the following cases (see below).

Como Park: 27

Golf Zone: 17

Ace Course: 1

Capt’n J’s: 1

Moose Mountain: 1

Lilli Putt Course Rules:

Balls must exit obstacles completely to be eligible for relief.

Balls can be played out of rock pits or a one stroke penalty can be assessed and you can re-spot your ball *six inches from the point of entry.

Players are not allowed relief from rock pits since they are a hazard, and not an obstacle.

Hole 10 - If the ball makes contact with the other side of the river (over the jump) and comes back into the water, you can re-spot your ball on the other side of the jump (nearest to the hole). If your ball simply falls into the water, without making contact with the other side, you must play your ball from the tee-box side of the jump. You can bring your ball backward as far back to the tee box as you wish.

Grand Slam Burnsville Course Rules:

Players may tee off on or anywhere completely behind the tee off pad.

Hole 1 will also be played as Hole 18

Hole 9 - Players must play one of the three skulls.

Grand Slam Coon Rapids Course Rules:

Players may tee off on or anywhere completely behind the tee off pad.

Golf Zone Course Rules:

Players must tee off from the tee box, marked by where the rock walls begin on each hole.

Hole 5 - Players will play the hole on the left

Hole 10 - If a players ball enters the rock hazard to the right of the fairway, that is considered out of bounds. (The ball must completely leave the green surface to be OB)

Hole 12 - You are not allowed to play out of the sand trap, you must take a one stroke penalty and play from where your ball entered the hazard (6 inches of relief)

Hole 14 - Players can play any of the three holes (important, if a players tee shot comes back to the player and lands in the tee box or outside of the hole, the player may retee, without penalty. If a players ball comes to rest on the fairway, in front of the tee box, the player must play the ball as it lies).

Hole 15 - Players will play the hole on the left

Hole 18 - If the player makes a hole in one, the score will register as a 1. If a player does not make a hole in one, the score will register as a 2.

Ties will be broken with a one hole playoff (hole 17).

Centennial Lakes Course Rules:

-Starting in 2024, players may take a one stroke penalty as opposed to playing their ball out of the stand trap. Your ball should be set 6 inches from where it entered the hazard. You may still play your ball out of the sand trap, without penalty.

-If your ball enters the rocks you have three options.

  1. You can take up to six inches of relief while still keeping your ball in the rough. This would be considered “normal” relief rules.

  2. You can take one club length of relief with a 1 stroke penalty while still keeping your ball in the rough. This is for a situation where six inches of relief is not enough but a full club length is.

  3. If your ball is missing, this is considered a “water ball”, it is not out of bounds. You must place your ball in the rough nearest to where it entered the rocks and take a 1 stroke penalty.
